Europe Square in Batumi
Georgia, Batumi

Europe Square, located in the heart of old Batumi, is surrounded by central streets and outlandish buildings. This is one of the attractions of the city. The square was named in honor of the accession of Adjara to the Assembly of European Regions, which once again emphasizes the desire of the Georgian people to Europe.
The 130-meter statue of Medea, installed on the square in 2007, recalls the ancient close ties of Georgia with the European world and the proximity of Georgian culture to European civilization. The author of the statue, which is a symbol of power and wealth, is David Khmaladze. The character of Greek mythology Medea was the youngest daughter of the legendary Colchian king Eeta (modern Western Georgia). At that time, Medea was the best pharmacist and the word "medicine" is associated with her name.
Europe Square, located in the city center, is a favorite place for recreation and entertainment not only for tourists, but also for residents. The renovated facades of old houses and new buildings are especially beautiful at night.
It should be noted that in recent years a large number of concerts of an international level have been held on the square. Moreover, Europe Square has gained particular popularity during the New Year holidays. For example, on New Year's Eve, concerts of such world music stars as José Kareras, Bueno Vista, Andrea Bocelli and many other foreign and Georgian top performers took place here. The most high-profile show of the last period on Europe Square was the MTV-liveGeorgia concert with Enrique Iglesias, which attracted more than 50 thousand spectators.
