The Curacao Dolphin Academy is located next to the Marine Aquarium, on the very shore of the Caribbean Sea. The Dolphin Academy opened its doors to visitors in 2002 with the aim of creating the possibility of close communication between people and trained dolphins - bottlenose dolphins, refuting false myths about these marine animals and promoting the protection of the marine environment and its inhabitants. Currently, 20 dolphins "live" in the Academy, each has a name to which the animal responds. Dolphins are not imprisoned in aquariums, but live in a small lagoon directly connected to the open sea. Six special programs have been developed for visitors, which offer acquaintance and communication with dolphins, the study of their habits and behavior, swimming or scuba diving with animals in a lagoon or open sea. Those who wish can ride, holding on to the dorsal fins of dolphins, try themselves as their trainer, learn the basic rules for caring for animals and goodbye to get a kiss from a dolphin. The Academy has developed educational programs for children and adults, conducted fascinating presentations and lectures.
