Lion Park
RSA, Johannesburg

The Lion Park is located in the Republic of South Africa, 30 km from Johannesburg. The park was opened in November 1966 by the world famous traveling circus Chipperfields Circus, and soon the Lion Park became one of Johannesburg's most visited attractions. The park is located on an area of 500 acres and is divided into two zones - herbivores (zebras, antelopes, oryxes, giraffes) live in one, the owners of the other part of the park are predators - lions, cheetahs, jackals, wild dogs and spotted hyenas. There are three prides in the park with a total of 80 lions. Animals zealously guard their territory, therefore, to prevent the “lion wars", the prides are separated from each other by two rows of three-meter fences. Most of the lions now living in the park were born within its walls, and their ancestors were from Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The pride of the park is white lions that are rarely found in nature (there are no more than 300 individuals in the world of lions with this rare coat color). For visitors to the park, day and night safaris, trips in an electric car along the pride, walks with a cheetah are held. Guests of the Lion Park have the opportunity to get acquainted with the habits of predators, observe the process of their feeding and feed the giraffes or ostriches themselves. Tourists can take a tour in the park and in their own car, strictly observing safety rules (it is strictly forbidden to open windows in the car, stop and leave the car in the middle of the pride). You can look at the lion cubs (from 3 to 6 months) and, with the permission of the park’s employees, you can even pet the kids in the Cub World lion’s “kindergarten”. For visitors to the park there is a picnic area, a children's playground, a restaurant, souvenir and children's shops, a photo center and a campground.
