On top of Mount Chaiktyo, which is located in the southeastern part of Myanmar and is one of the most revered Buddhist sites in the country, there is a boulder covered with gold sheets. This gigantic stone, topped with a small stupa Chattyo, mystically balances on the top of the mountain. According to legend, Buddha's hair is embedded in the base of the stupa, which ensures the stability of the stone on a cliff. The best time to view the shrine is sunrise or sunset, when the rays of the sun are very effectively reflected from the surface of the stone. Pilgrims and tourists get to the "golden stone" on foot through the picturesque rainforest.
