Palmitos Park is located in the south of Gran Canaria, 10 km from Maspalomas. Palmitos Park is a botanical garden with a zoo and a dolphinarium (opened in 2010), covers an area of 20 hectares, on which more than 15,000 flora representatives from all over the world grow. Visitors have the opportunity to see more than a hundred species of cacti and succulents collected in the botanical garden, 40 species of palm trees and many other exotic plants. Picturesque trails lead visitors to the park past huge cacti, some of which grow up to 4 meters, small ponds and an artificial waterfall. The Orchid House has the largest collection of orchids on the island; dozens of species of these exotic plants are represented here; there are endemic species from South America and Australia. In the Butterfly House, guests of the park can see the largest collection of butterflies in Europe freely flying among tropical flowering plants. Visitors can get acquainted with the life cycle of these beautiful insects by observing the mysterious process of the appearance of an adult butterfly from a pupa. In addition, hundreds of birds live in the park, many birds fly freely among the trees, others live in comfortable enclosures. Performances with ravenous, exotic birds and parrots can be seen in the amphitheater. Guests of the park also have the opportunity to visit the Aquarium, which presents marine and freshwater inhabitants, including coral fish, surgeon and scorpion fish, seahorses and black pacu. In the park of Palmitos, the Komodo dragon lives - one of the few representatives of these exotic dinosaurs grown in captivity. Caimans, California turtles, gibbons and orangutans, aardvarks, dwarf kangaroos, meerkats, and tiny monkeys also live in the park. The dolphinarium has 4 pools and is designed for 1500 spectators. Five dolphins live in dolphinariums, performances with which are very popular among adults and children. The park offers fascinating tours, educational programs are developed, there is a restaurant, cafes and eateries, a photo studio and a gift shop.
