The Tigirek Nature Reserve is a federal-level strictly protected nature reserve located in the southwestern part of the Altai Krai in Russia. It was established in 1999 to preserve the unique natural complexes of the region's low-mountain black taiga and forest-steppe ecosystems. The reserve encompasses the watershed of the upper reaches of the Inya River and the Tigirek Range, covering an area of over 40,000 hectares. Its territory is characterized by a combination of mountain landscapes, including rocky outcrops, caves, and river valleys. The Tigirek Reserve protects a significant number of rare and endemic plant species, as well as habitats for animals such as the maral, elk, roe deer, brown bear, lynx, and numerous bird species. The reserve's administration is based in the city of Barnaul, which serves as the coordinating center for its conservation and research activities.
