The Dubai Fountain is a large, choreographed fountain system situated on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake in the Downtown Dubai development in the United Arab Emirates. It was designed by WET Design, the California-based company responsible for the fountains at the Bellagio Hotel Lake in Las Vegas. The fountain system is over 900 feet (275 meters) in length and is illuminated by 6,600 lights and 50 colored projectors. It is capable of shooting water jets as high as 500 feet (152 meters) into the air, a height equivalent to that of a 50-story building. The fountain performances are set to a wide range of music, from classical Arabic compositions to contemporary international pieces. Performances take place daily at regular intervals in the afternoons and evenings. The fountain system utilizes a vast array of water nozzles and shooters, including super shooters and extreme shooters, to create its intricate and powerful water patterns. It is one of the world's largest choreographed fountain systems and has become a major tourist attraction, visible from numerous points throughout the Downtown Dubai area and from the observation decks of the nearby Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building.
