Dar Si Said Museum
Morocco, Marrakech

The Dar Si Said Museum is located in Morocco, in the city of Marrakech, near the Bahia Palace. The museum occupies the building of a magnificent palace, built in the second half of the 19th century by Si Said, brother of Ba Ahmed - the great vizier and regent of Marrakesh. The palace was built in Moroccan style, surrounded by high walls, in the courtyard there is a lush garden, in the center of which there is an openwork arbor with a fountain. In 1932, Dar Si Said Palace was transformed into a museum, the exhibition of which is dedicated to Moroccan art and crafts. In the halls of the ground floor there are collections of traditional casual and formal clothes, copper products, weapons and Berber jewelry. On the second floor there is a hall for receptions, a salon and other rooms richly decorated with stucco moldings, wooden carved panels, openwork friezes and mosaics made of Moroccan zelig tile. Here you can see elegant cedar furniture, carpets from different regions of Morocco, ceramics, leather and wood products, embroidery, musical instruments. Walking around the courtyard, among the orange trees, museum visitors can explore the collection of wooden doors and window frames, decorated with exquisite ornaments and talismans that protect from the "evil" eye.
