Saigon Zoo was founded in 1864 thanks to the contribution of the famous French botanist J.B. Louise Pierre This oldest Asian zoo is located in the city center. It covers an area of 20 hectares. Saigon Zoo combines a zoo and a botanical garden. The zoo has about 125 species of animals. The zoo is home to rare animals that belong to endangered species. Animals such as lions, tigers, bears, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, lemurs, many species of monkeys, flamingos, pelicans, zebras, leopards, antelopes, parrots, crocodiles, ostriches, elephants, white tigers, turtles, chameleons, pythons are represented here. , other species of reptiles and many other animals and birds. Zoo animals live in enclosures, and some of them walk in open areas of the zoo. Due to the fact that animals are close to people, it is possible to closely examine their habits in an environment close to the natural habitat. Here you can watch crocodiles basking in the sun and tigers walking quietly. Some animals can be fed by hand. The zoo has a magnificent butterfly park, which is simply impossible to pass by.
