Telašćica Nature Park is a protected area located on the southeastern part of the island of Dugi Otok. The park encompasses a deep, well-protected bay, also named Telašćica, which is one of the largest and safest natural harbors in the Adriatic Sea, featuring 25 smaller coves and islets. The park's terrestrial part covers an area of approximately 25.95 square kilometers, while its marine section extends over 44.55 square kilometers. A prominent geological feature is the cliffs on the western side, which rise up to 161 meters above sea level and drop steeply to a depth of about 90 meters below the sea surface. The area is characterized by significant biodiversity, including several endemic and endangered species. The marine environment contains important habitats such as seagrass meadows, which are crucial for the ecosystem. Salt Lake Mir, located within the park, is known for its therapeutic mud and higher salinity than the surrounding sea. The park is a significant site for ornithology, serving as a habitat for various bird species. Human activity within the park has a long history, with evidence of agricultural use and traditional stone building construction.
