Wat Phnom Temple
Cambodia, Phnom Penh

Wat Phnom is the most significant of all the temples in Phnom Penh. It is located on a 27-meter hill in the northern part of the city. The first pagoda was erected here in 1373. Over the years, numerous additions to the original sanctuary have arisen at Wat Phnom, all of which can still be seen on the grounds of this sacred site. Of greatest importance is the massive stupa housing the ashes of King Ponya Yat. It was he who came here in 1434 and built the city of Phnom Penh. Wat Phnom is one of the main attractions of the city and while in Phnom Penh you should definitely visit it.
