Botanical Garden Balata

The Balata Botanical Garden is located on the picturesque territory of the island of Martinique, 10 km from the central part of Fort de France, the capital of the island, at the foot of Mount Piton du Carbé. The Botanical Garden was created by the gardener and famous landscape designer Jean-Philippe Tose, who for 20 years created this masterpiece of local Creole-style flora. The opening ceremony of the Botanical Garden took place in 1982. It is thanks to the Balata Botanical Garden that the island of Martinique is called the island of flowers. On the island there are more than a thousand varieties of flowers and herbs that create an extravaganza of aroma and color. Luxurious local flowers of this tropical island grow in abundance in the Balata Botanical Garden. In the garden there are flowers such as anthurium, hibiscus, heliconia, cordilunia, dragon tree, reed, begonia, pine trees, orchids. Here is a unique collection of tropical plants from around the world. In total there are more than 3000 plants. One of the most common inhabitants of this paradise are small hummingbirds. On the territory of the Botanical Garden there are decorative lakes with lotus flowers and exotic water lilies. In the Botanical Garden, you can admire the cascades of waterfalls and visit the Balat Church, which is a small copy of the Sacré-Kern Basilica on Mont Martre in France. The Balata Botanical Garden is a popular destination among tourists due to its beautiful scenery.
