Theme Park Domain Le Pai
Mauritius, Port Louis

Domaine Le Pai Theme Park is located in the western part of Mauritius, on the foothills of the Moka Range, a 10-minute drive from Port Louis. The Le Pays domain covers an area of 3000 acres, during the French rule on the island of Ile de France (the so-called Mauritius under the French) a sugar plantation was located in this place. The former colonial estate was transformed into a theme park and cultural heritage center Domain Le Pais, which is very popular among foreign tourists and local residents. Visitors can take a walk around the estate on the old Lady Alice train or horse-drawn carriage, visit the sugar factory built in the 18th century and still producing sugar from sugarcane. During a tour of the plant, visitors will be introduced to the technology and stages of cane sugar production. No less popular is the excursion to the rum factory, where the famous local rum has been produced since 1758. The plant is still operating, and its visitors will be invited to a tasting of the Domaine Les Pailles Rum specialty drink. Another attraction of the Domaine Le Pai is the spice garden. Here all the spices that are used in dishes of the national cuisine of Mauritius grow - cinnamon, turmeric, pepper, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, saffron, mint, basil and thyme. This corner of the park is literally shrouded in a persistent spicy aroma. There are craft workshops, a coffee shop, a Museum of traditional masks, a playground, an essential oil shop and a souvenir shop in the Domaine Le Pai. There are four restaurants in the park. The 18th-century colonial house houses the Clos Saint Louis Restaurant, which serves national and French cuisine.
