Children's Museum in Polotsk is a unique place. There are very few people who do not have the desire to touch any of the exhibits in institutions involved in collecting items. And in the Polotsk Children's Museum it is allowed to touch history in the literal sense of the word. And the most active, you can even play with the exhibits. The exposition of the Children's Museum is housed in a building that is an architectural monument of the late XIX - early XX centuries. The museum is part of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. The opening of the museum took place on May 28, 2004. The exposition area of the museum is 132 m². The exposition presents 8 collections (760 items) from the museum collection of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. Two exposition halls of the museum provide an opportunity for visitors to get acquainted with a variety of objects, to learn the history of their invention and improvement, to understand that a person is inherently a creator, creator, not a destroyer. In the first room are presented complexes: watches, scales and measures of weight, bells. In the second hall there are sound-reproducing apparatuses, cameras, samovars, philately and philocardia. In the second hall of the museum there is a special showcase for removable children's collections, the theme of which is “The World of My Hobbies”.
In the computer room of the Children's Museum you can get acquainted with all the temporary exhibitions held in the museum, learn the basics of working on a computer, play games that develop logical thinking, memory, attention, imagination. The idea of creating a Children's Museum belongs to T.A. Jumantayeva, Deputy Director for Science. The author of the artistic concept of the Children's Museum is Minsk resident Sergey Kletsov. The sculptor of Pavel Voynitsky “Shkolyar” (2004) and “Girl with a sundial” (2005) became a unique visiting card of the museum.
