Putorana Plateau
Russia, Krasnoyarsk Krai

The Putorana Plateau is one of Russia’s most mysterious and least explored regions, located in the northern part of Krasnoyarsk Krai. This vast, ancient volcanic mountain range, formed over 250 million years ago, is known for its dramatic landscapes—deep canyons, stepped plateaus, endless taiga forests, and hundreds of waterfalls create a truly otherworldly scenery.

The plateau is home to countless lakes and rivers hidden among rocky gorges. One of the most stunning spots is Lake Lama, surrounded by steep cliffs. The area is rich in wildlife, with rare species such as the snow sheep, wolverine, and brown bear roaming freely. Due to its remoteness, Putorana remains almost untouched by human activity, and much of the plateau is still difficult to access.

The region is especially famous for its waterfalls. One of the most breathtaking is Talnikov Waterfall, which is considered one of the highest in Russia. During spring and summer, torrents of water cascade down from a height of over 480 meters, creating a spectacular sight.

Reaching the plateau is challenging—most travelers rely on helicopters or boats. However, those who embark on the journey will be rewarded with mesmerizing landscapes, absolute silence, and the rare opportunity to experience nature in its purest, most untouched form.
