Yarki Island
Russia, Baikal

Yarki Island is a narrow sandy spit located in the Selenga River delta, in the northeastern part of Lake Baikal. Stretching for about 10 kilometers, its width in some areas is only a few hundred meters. The island separates the freshwater of the Selenga River from the brackish waters of Baikal, creating a unique natural environment with diverse flora and fauna.

Thanks to its location and geographical features, Yarki is an excellent destination for beach recreation. The shallow waters and sandy bottom allow the water to warm up faster than in most parts of Baikal. In summer, the island attracts visitors with its long beaches, fresh air, and an opportunity to relax away from urban life. It is an ideal place for camping, walking, and observing nature.

The island is home to many birds, including seagulls, ducks, and cormorants. Additionally, Baikal seals can sometimes be spotted near the shores. The natural tranquility, scenic landscapes, and secluded atmosphere make Yarki one of the most appealing destinations for travelers seeking harmony with nature.
