- Caldera Crater Sete Cidadesh (Caldera Crater of Seven Cities)
One of the main attractions of the island of San Miguel is the huge crater Caldeira das Sete Cidades. There are two beautiful lakes Lagoa Verde (Green Lake) and Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake), listed in the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal. Taking an excursion to these amazing lakes, you will enjoy the colorful landscapes surrounding you, you will be able to see rare species of plants and birds. You will also be invited to visit tobacco, tea, coffee and pineapple plantations. The most unforgettable excursion from them will be a visit to the tobacco plantations in the village of San Antonio, a small but with unusually friendly residents who will proudly tell you the history of the island. A visit to the Gorreana tea factory, where tea has been produced since 1883, will introduce you to the history of tea production on the island.
