Ofu Island
American Samoa, Ofu Island

Ofu is the most popular and beautiful of the Manua Islands. It is easiest to come here, and the island is the most frequently visited. Ofu's precious crown - the sandy shore of the south coast - 2.5 miles (4 km) of white sand - is one of the most beautiful in the South Pacific. Bring your masks: the waters here are part of the national park, and here you can see 300 species of fish and 150 corals. In 1987, archaeologists found many prehistoric Samoan artifacts behind the coast on the Toag Site.
Ofu is located 10 km northwest of Tau and 95 km east of Tutuila, the two islands of Ofu (4.9 sq. Km) and Olosega (3.9 sq. Km) are the most western of the Manua Islands group and are part of the territory of the American Islands Samoa Shaded by a cloud, on the left side is the smaller island of Nuutele (1.08 sq. Km), 1 km from the eastern side of Ofu.
The binary islands of Ofu (in the west) and Olosega (in the east) are formed by two sharply destroyed, superimposed layers of the volcano. Steep slopes and cliffs up to 600 meters in height give the islands dramatic southern and northern coastlines that continue to the point in front of the narrow strait between the islands. The steep slopes of the southern coast of Ofu reach the highest point in the Leolo Mountain Range, where the highest peak of the island is found - Mount Tumu in Mount Olozegi at 494 meters Piumafua, located at the junction of the northern and southern mountain ranges (Aleia Mountain Range and Mataala Mountain Range, respectively) reaches a height of 639 meters. Both islands are surrounded by a common reef that becomes vulnerable at low tide.
