Shirvanshahs Palace
Azerbaijan, Baku

The real treasure of Azerbaijani architecture is the Palace ensemble of the Shirvanshahs rulers, erected here in the 15th century (then the Shirvanshahs' residence moved from Shemakha to Baku). The ensemble includes: a two-story palace building, a tomb, a mosque, a sofa, the mausoleum of Seyid Yahya Bakuvi, a bathhouse, the Eastern portal, as well as the gates of Murad (XVI century). If you look far from the sea, you can clearly see that the Palace complex, as it were, steps down from the top of the Baku hill, that is, the three main buildings of the palace lie on three levels. Crowned with domes, the buildings of the entire complex with well-shaped portals decorated with a unique pattern of fine and deep carvings, magnificent masonry made of stone - all this still pleases the eye of everyone who comes here to admire the creations of the hands of medieval craftsmen.
