The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna was built between 1872 and 1891, and was supposed to accommodate the extensive collections of the Habsburg dynasty. Members of the royal family were truly passionate admirers and collectors of art. The museum, with its amazing Renaissance architecture and superbly designed ceiling, is a masterpiece in itself. This is one of the richest and most important museums in the world, containing objects from Ancient Egypt, Greek and Roman antiquities, collections of Medieval art, the Renaissance and Baroque. The canvases of Rubens, Rembrandt, Wermer, Dürer, Raphael, Titian, Brueghel and Van Dyck are stored here.
