Slītere National Park is located on the North Kurzeme peninsula, washed by the Baltic Sea. The park is famous for its incredibly beautiful views - the sea, broadleaf forests, swamps, wetlands, boreal forests and swamps.
For the convenience of the public there are:
- several nature trails;
- bicycle paths;
- routes for motorists, boaters and tourists;
- observation towers to discover the diversity and cultural history of the park.
Outdoor recreation:
- Kolkasrags Paine and Evaži nature trails are suitable for everyone hikers, while the Peterezers Nature Trail and Slītere Nature Trail require steeper hills - but the views are worth the effort;
- The sandy beaches of the Baltic Sea are great for walking;
- Cycling routes to choose from: the Mazbanitis (Chu-chu) trail from Mazirbe to Sikrags, the Slitere circle (along the beaches of the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga) or the route through Liv fishing villages from Kolka to Sikrags;
- For experienced yachtsmen, definitely It is recommended to sail to the Kolka lighthouse at least once;
- Visit Sliteri during the bird migration period or take part in the annual Bird Days;
- Try the traditional cuisine of the shores of Northern Kurzeme - sklandrausis and smoked fish .
What to see in Slitere National Park:
- Cape Kolka - the cape where the waters meet Gulf of the Sea (Gulf of Riga) and the Great Sea (Baltic Sea);
- Slītere Lighthouse on top of the Blue Mountains;
- Mazirbe (Ire) - visit the Livonian People's House, see the collection of ancient Livonian objects in Sturisi, boat cemetery;
- The collection of horns in Purvziedi in Vaida numbers more than 550 specimens.
