Kalsnava Arboretum

Kalsnava Arboretum is the largest collection of woody plants in Eastern Latvia. From early spring to late autumn, 2,500 different species of trees and 45,000 species of plants can be seen here. The surrounding area is beautiful and suitable for long walks.


Flower season

Only in Kalsnava you can see such rarities as:


  • tulip tree;
  • white campan tree;
  • Kobushi magnolia.


Since 2006, the most large collection of peonies in Latvia.


For walks and relaxation


You can take a relaxing walk along the “rhododendron path” in the pine forest. You can cross the pond on a bridge and see the variety of colors of water lilies. Kalsnava Arboretum is a wonderful garden that blooms all year round.


Even in October - when witch hazel blooms.


About the arboretum


The collection has important scientific, educational, economic and recreational significance. The Kalsnava Arboretum covers a total area of ​​143.96 hectares, of which 99 hectares are occupied by trees and shrubs.


It was founded in 1975 with the aim of conducting research in the field of dendrology and forestry, as well as creating a collection foreign trees and shrubs for propagation and further planting.
