Haines Temple
South Korea, South Gyeongsang Province

Hains Temple is one of South Korea's most famous Buddhist temples. It is located on Kayasan Mountain in Gyeongsangnam-do. The temple was first built in 802. According to legend, two Korean monks who returned from wandering in China, Sunyun and Ijon, cured Van Ejan's wife from a serious illness. In gratitude to Buddha, the van ordered the construction of the temple. The complex was completed or restored many times - in the X century, 1488, 1622 and 1644, as well as after the fire of 1817. Since December 1995, Hains has been a World Heritage Site. At the same time, the temple is still the current center of the Buddhist movement Dream.
On the territory of the temple there are two objects from the list of National Treasures of Korea: the repository Changyeong Pangjon and the famous set of Buddhist sacred texts Tripitaka Koreana, which is located in this repository. Tripitaka Koreana was carved on 81.340 wooden tablets. In such an unusual way, the ruling dynasty asked for help from Buddha in the war against advancing Mongolia.
