Daugavpils Museum of Regional History and Art is one of the oldest and largest museums in Latgale. It was founded in 1938 and is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city - a monument of Art Nouveau architecture, built in 1883.
The mission of the Daugavpils Local History and Art Museum: to collect, preserve, study and popularize historical exhibits culture, art and nature of the Daugavpils region, thereby promoting understanding of both the cultural heritage of the region and its modernity, promoting interest and understanding of historical processes in the Daugavpils region, as well as instilling respect for the spiritual heritage and traditions.
