This building was built by the artist’s father in the early 1900s, and Marc Chagall spent his youthful years here, which he later wrote about in the autobiographical book My Life. The museum was opened here in 1997. In its four rooms are presented household items from the turn of the 19th-20th centuries and copies of archival documents and works of the artist, telling about the years of life of Marc Chagall and his parents' family in Vitebsk, photographs of the artist's family.
The sculptures are located in the courtyard.
The exposition consists of the following sections: "Grocery Store", "Boys' Room", "Living Room", "Red Room", "Kitchen". The interior of the house was reconstructed according to archival documents and works of Marc Chagall.
