Laxapana Falls

<p>The name Lakshapana Falls is said to have many origins and meanings. Some sources cite that the name comes from the excessive amount of iron ore, or "laksha" in the rocks over which it flows, the word "lakshana" being stunning, and "lakshaya" meaning 100,000.</p><br><p>Waterfall Lakshapana has a height of 126 meters. The locals introduced this waterfall under another name "Veddahiti Ella", or "Waterfall where Vedda lived."</p><br><p>Lakshapana Falls originates from Maskeliya Oya. The surroundings of this waterfall are rich in diverse flora and fauna and the climate becomes cold in the afternoon. This is a great place for photos.</p><br><p>The base pool is incredibly deep and it is not safe to even go near its edge.</p><br><p>Access to the waterfall is possible from both the base and the head . If you visit the mouth of the falls, beware of sudden increases in water levels (due to reservoirs located upstream) and soft and slippery rock surfaces.</p><br><p>Be especially careful when swimming in unknown areas. Please keep in mind that death is within arm's reach while you are swimming in Maskeliya Oye.</p><br><p>This place can be reached from Colombo, Ginigathena, Nortonbridge.</p>
