<p>Peshna is a cave in the Republic of Macedonia, declared a cultural monument. The cave is located six kilometers from Makedonski Brod. According to speleologists, Peshna is a cave with the largest holes in the Balkans - the height of the hole is 40 meters and the width is 56 meters. The length of the cave is 124 meters. Swallows nest and bats live in the cave. As a testament to the beauty of Peshna Cave, the New York Times compared it to Helms Deep from The Lord of the Rings.</p><p>From the far northern part of the cave, after heavy rains and melting snow, a strong spring emerges, which during the dry periods of the year dries out completely. According to the local population, the water comes from the village of Krapa, which is at a higher altitude and forms several lakes and waterfalls in "the largest cave system in our country", which is believed to be ten kilometers long.</p><p>U At the entrance to the cave there is a medieval fortress and the remains of a water mill. The remains of a fortress in the cave belong to the Devini Kuli site, which can be seen from inside the cave. According to local legends, the sisters of King Marko lived in both fortresses. Peshna is registered as a Late Antique site in Macedonia. An ancient tomb with a brick arch was discovered in front of the entrance to the cave itself.</p>
