Ring of Brodgar
Great Britain, Stromness

The Broadgar or Brogara ring is a cromlech of the Neolithic era on Mainland, the largest island in the archipelago of the Orkney Islands, Scotland. Located on a narrow isthmus between the Stennes and Harrey lakes. The name Brogar is often also used. Stargnes Megaliths are 1.2 km from Broadgar Circle.
It was probably built between 2500 and 2000 BC, but the exact age of this large-scale megalithic structure is unknown, since it has not yet been studied by archaeologists. Previously, 60 megaliths stood around a site with a diameter of 104 m. Only 27 of them have survived to this day. The Broadgar Circle is the third largest cromlech of the British Isles.
Some details of the ritual that was performed on this cromlech in the pre-Christian and partially Christian era are known. Perhaps he has nothing to do with the builders of cromlech. According to the collection of legends from GFBlack (1903), this megalithic monument was called the Temple of the Sun. In it, the male (second) part of the three-stage rite of engagement was performed.
The complex is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
