This is one of the most popular places for walking. In addition to several hundred original plants, trees, bushes and flowers, there are also Japanese buildings: a gate and a tea pavilion.
One of the attractions of the garden is a pond with huge carps and other fish species. The garden often hosts events such as tea parties, concerts and outdoor events.
History of the Japanese garden
The Japanese Garden was created in the early 20th century on the occasion of the 1913 World's Fair. It was the initiative of Count Fritz von Hochberg, who hired a Japanese gardener, Mankichi Arai. After the exhibition, it was dismantled, but the plants, the location of the alleys and the pond remained the same.
The idea of renovating the Japanese Garden in Wroclaw arose in the 90s. The reconstruction lasted three years, experts from Japan came to help, but the Garden did not last long. Two months after the opening, the garden was destroyed by a flood. 70% of plants died. The next opening of the Japanese enclave took place in October 1999.
