Jokulsaurloun glacier lagoon - a glacial water reservoir located on the coast of the southeastern part of Iceland, at a distance of 1.5 kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. Jokulsaurloun is located at the foot of the country's largest glacier Vatnajokull, the meltwater which formed the glacial lagoon. Jokulsaurloun lagoon is often called a glacial lake. The area of this lake is about 18 square kilometers and has a depth of up to 200 meters. The lagoon began to form from the 30s of the last century due to an increase in air temperature, which led to the melting of the glacier. The place for the accumulation of water was the gorge, which was filled with melt water. Glacier Lake is the lowest point in Iceland and is located 200 meters below sea level. Ocean tides contributed to the migration of fish into the glacial reservoir, which in turn attracted the attention of seals and representatives of the feathered world. The beauty and unusualness of the Jokulsaurloun lake attracts many tourists who are offered to make tours on boats, jeeps and snowmobiles. The icy shores and floating icebergs, whose height sometimes reaches 30 meters, make an unforgettable travel experience. It is worth noting that from Reykjavik the ice lake is only 250 kilometers away and the townspeople themselves come here to rest. The Jokulsaurloun glacier lagoon has been the location of filming for feature film scenes, including a James Bond movie called Die But Not Now.
