The palace was planned by the then-famous banker Luc Pitti. With the construction of such a chic palace, he wanted to prove that there is nobody richer in Florence. The design of the palace Pitti entrusted to his student, architect Luca Francheli. To build the building in the shortest possible time, everyone was accepted for work without exception. After some time, the palace was still completed. In the XIX century, the king of Italy, Victor Emmanuel II, lived in the Pitti Palace. Later, his grandson nationalized the palace, giving it to Italy. The palace was built in the Renaissance style. The Pitti Palace impresses with its grandeur and massiveness. The use of rough finishing materials in the cladding of a residential building was elevated here to the highest degree. Each of the three floors has a height of more than 10 meters. For those times it was a building of unprecedented height. In the XIX century, a large-scale reconstruction of the palace took place. Two semicircular wings were attached to the building. As a result, the palace square was surrounded by walls on three sides. Today in the Pitti Palace there are museums and art galleries - the Treasury of Granduchi, the Palatine Gallery and the Royal Apartments, the Gallery of Modern Art, the Silver Museum and the Museum of Fashion and Costumes.
