Lake of the Returned Sword
Vietnam, Ha Noi municipality

The lake is located in the center of Hanoi, and its history is associated with a unique legend. One day, a fisherman named Le Loi, swimming along the lake, saw a huge turtle with a gigantic sword in its teeth, realizing this as a sign, the fisherman took the sword and led the liberation movement in the 15th century. 10 years after the victory over the invaders, Le Loi proclaimed himself emperor, and once, again swimming in the lake, he again saw a turtle that came up from the very depths to pick up the sword. The emperor realized that the sword must be returned, since the enemy has already been defeated. Since then, the lake is called the Lake of the Returned Sword. Currently, the lake is a resting place for locals and tourists. In the evenings, many lovers of young couples gather around the lake, coming on motorbikes to enjoy the romantic view.
