The Elmin Java Museum is dedicated to the Black Dutch - that was the name of African soldiers serving in the Dutch colonial forces during the Dutch colonial rule in Indonesia. The theme of "black Dutch" became known to the general public only in 1997 after the publication of Arthur Japin's book "Black with a White Heart". The next step in 2003 was the opening of the museum, founded by the Edward Ulzen Memorial Fund. The museum’s collection contains copies of the uniforms of the time, paintings and documents.
