The Museum of Natural History and Technology is one of Salzburg's favorite children's museums. Still would! After all, there is an oceanarium with live fish and reptiles, which you can even feed. Feeding takes place twice a week. On Monday at 10.15 you can feed the octopus, shark and archer fish. On Thursday, at the same time, sharks, piranhas, archer fish and octopus are fed. Anyone can feed the predators. The oceanarium is rightly considered one of the most beautiful in Central Europe, and is especially popular with both children and the elderly. Its 36 aquariums contain over 10,000 liters of water. Here visitors have the opportunity to see the wonders of underwater life. Colorful tropical fish of the Mediterranean, Amazonians make an indelible impression. What is only a pleasure to admire close up on a terrifying marine predator - a shark. The hall with reptiles and amphibians is located in the reptile zoo. About 200 animals, most of which are not indigenous to Europe, live in 56 terrariums. Here you can meet the famous poisonous snakes from around the world, as well as aquatic and earthen turtles, lizards, frogs and even the alligator from Mississippi. In addition to the aquarium, the museum has halls dedicated to prehistoric times and dinosaurs, the fauna of the earth, man and nature, a hall of stones. Here you can travel around the human body, visit the cosmodrome, find yourself in a technogenic world, learn what music is and how sounds are born. The space research hall is equipped with an original size moon landing diorama, a future space station, an original size mercury spacecraft, and a number of rocket models. The new scientific center offers visitors a kaleidoscope of exciting new experiments: the halls of technology and science, as well as visits to the human body become interactive adventures. Nearly 80 experimental stations will allow visitors to learn how turbines work, or to learn to hear and feel music. Children find answers to questions such as “Why is cement or coffee used in powder form?” Or “How does my skeleton ride a bicycle?” Other interesting exhibits are presented here: minerals, stuffed European mammals and birds, animals that lived in the glacial period. Constantly changing special exhibitions add variety to the museum’s extensive program. In the museum’s restaurant and cafe you can dine with the whole family or just have a bite to eat between adventures in different rooms. So when you visit the Museum of Natural History and Technology and ”joy and pleasure are guaranteed to you!
