Historical and cultural reserve Zorats Karer settlement (Karahunge)
Armenia, Sisian

200 km from Yerevan, near the city of Sisian, there is a prehistoric monument, consisting of hundreds of vertically placed large stones with through holes in the upper part. It is located on a mountain plateau at an altitude of 1770 meters above sea level and covers an area of more than 7 hectares on the left bank of the Dar River Gorge, a tributary of the Vorotan River.
Assumptions were made about the possible cult or astronomical purpose of the monument. In order to study it, the author (P.M. Geruni) undertook four scientific expeditions (1994-1997) on the days of the equinoxes and solstices.
The dimensions of the monument were measured, a detailed topographic survey was carried out, the geographical coordinates were measured (Ф = 39/34, Л = 46/01), the magnetic declination of the place, horizon closure, azimuths and elevation angles of the holes in the stones. Numerous observations and videos were made through the corresponding holes in the stones at the moments of sunrise, sunset, and the culmination of the Sun and Moon on the days of the equinoxes and solstices; and a large amount of computational work has been completed.
Key findings - the monument had a triple purpose:
a) The Temple of AR (the Sun) of the main God of the ancient Armenians and his "secretary" Tire - the patron of sciences and writing;
b) An extensive and highly developed observatory equipped with stone tools that allow measurements to be made with an accuracy of 30 seconds of the arc (or 2 seconds of time);
to university.
The monument was built more than 7,500 years ago (i.e., 3,500 years before Stonehenge) and operated for 5,500 years. Further thorough investigation of the monument by different specialists is necessary.
The possibility of the existence of a “single brain center”, which led the creation of megaliths in various regions of the Earth, is discussed.
