In the heart of the Armenian capital Yerevan is the pride of the entire Armenian people - the Opera House. This is not just a cultural structure, but an architectural masterpiece, authored by the world-famous academician-architect Alexander Tamanyan. And it is no coincidence that this architectural masterpiece in 1937. at the international exhibition held in Paris, won the main prize.
The theater was founded in a very difficult historical period for the Armenian people, in the first half of the last century, when the people were in extremely difficult condition, however, the desire to have an opera house was beyond any material difficulties. The curtain of the opera house of Armenia was raised on January 20, 1933. The Armenian people have a history of two thousand, but only in the 20th century did they have the opportunity to revive the development of the history of opera and ballet, a theater that is the peak of theatrical and musical art. At the same time giving stage life to three “A” - opera “Almast”, “Anush”, “Arshak II”, the theater named after A. Spendiaryan became an incentive in the birth of a new musical and theatrical country, the imagination of composers. It summarizes the most magnificent biography of Armenian musical life. For more than eighty years, it has been the initial focus of feelings, thoughts, cherished desires of any Armenian, the pride of our musical art, and for foreigners - an occasion to visit Armenia. A few decades ago, the presence of Aram Khachaturian, and in particular the creation of the ballet Spartak, confirmed the constant presence of works by Armenian composers in the history of the theater.
