This museum is known for its collection of German and French impressionists of the 19th century. Also here is the world's largest collection of works by the famous Berlin artist Adolf von Menzel (1815-1905). Here is a whole universe of art, representing the classical and romantic trends, as well as such an era in art as Biedermeier. The latter direction is represented, among others, by Caspar David Friedrich and Schinkel. It will take you a long time to explore everything - from Pissarro to Cezanne, from Delacroix to Degas, from Van Gogh to Monet, but it's worth it. Pay particular attention to the work of Max Liebermann and Max Beckmann. The size of the collection could be much larger if the Nazis did not destroy or sell many works, believing that they have a degrading effect.
