You can get to Middleham High Waterfall on foot through the virgin rainforest (travel time 1 hour). There are trails from both Laudat and Cochrane. From Laudat there is an opportunity to reach by car. First, a steep climb leads to Middleham, then a flatter path through lush forest thickets. On the way you will have to overcome several peaks, especially if you want to swim in the lake. Middleham is one of the highest waterfalls, the path to it lies through the old coffee plantations and Tu Santi ("stinking hole"). This is a destroyed lava pipe, spewing warm gases with an unpleasant odor, bats live in its crevices. As Middleham’s waters fall from great heights and cause a lot of splashing, make sure your camera or camcorder is in a good case.
