Melnik is a small provincial town that not every tourist will get to. But those who get will not regret it. Once Melnik was famous throughout the country - the richest winemakers and tobacco merchants lived here. They built magnificent houses, temples, huge warehouses for storing their goods. But in Melnik there is something to see and besides these amazing creations of man. The town is located at the foot of the southwestern slopes of the Pirin massif, so amazing cliffs rise around it. They consist of sandstone - and this is the material from which water and wind can fashion the most bizarre things. Near Melnik, one can just observe the creative activity of the elements: the rocks resemble pyramids, fish fins, mushrooms, columns, obelisks, minarets. It is still unknown whose creativity in this is more than nature or human imagination, but it is worth looking at the unique landscape and historical value of Bulgaria.
