Maribor
Slovenia, Maribor

The second largest city in Slovenia - Maribor, is located in the north-east of the country and is considered to be its cultural capital.
At the same time, Maribor combines the charm of a small medieval town with bewitching landscapes around. On the one hand it is surrounded by the snowy peaks of Pohorje, and on the other, the slopes of wine plantations are frozen in soft green waves. Through all this splendor, as if separating the two worlds, the wide river Drava flows, which has become a permanent home for numerous flocks of swans and ducks.
Sights:
Among the narrow cobbled streets and small city squares there are many treasures of world history and culture - the Gothic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist (XII century), the municipality building, built in the spirit of the Renaissance, the Maribor castle of the XV century, the central square with a memorial dedicated to the fighters against the plague and its victims , a synagogue, as well as many art galleries and theaters!

Every year, in honor of the grape harvest in Maribor, a beauty contest is held among the daughters of local winemakers and a large-scale festival dedicated to this drink is organized. Fairs are held on the squares of the city, where all the winemakers of the region come together, and the variety of wines, their tastes and varieties will surprise even the most picky samyel.
