Praia do Molhe Leste is a scenic beach located alongside the eastern breakwater of Peniche. Thanks to its sheltered position and long stretch of soft sand, it’s a favorite among both locals and visitors. Unlike the more exposed Atlantic beaches, the waters here are often calmer, making it a safer and more relaxing spot for swimming, especially during the summer.
The beach runs parallel to the man-made breakwater, which protects the shoreline and adds a distinctive visual element — on one side, a tranquil bay, and on the other, the port and Molhe Este lighthouse. This makes it ideal for families, beach sports, shoreline walks, or simply unwinding by the sea. The sand is fine and golden, and the water is typically clean and inviting.
Praia do Molhe Leste is especially beautiful in the early morning or late afternoon, when the sun bathes the breakwater in golden light. From here, visitors enjoy scenic views of the Peniche peninsula, the harbor, and fishing boats returning to port. There’s convenient parking nearby, along with cafés and snack stalls, making it an easy and enjoyable destination for a day at the beach.
