The "Man of the Sea" sculpture (Monumento ao Homem do Mar) is a significant monument in the coastal town of Peniche, Portugal. Installed in 1992, this bronze composition was created by renowned sculptor João Duarte. The monument features figures of a fisherman and his family, symbolizing not only the hardships and bravery of those who dedicated their lives to the sea but also the support of their loved ones. Located on the waterfront in the Ribeira Velha area, the sculpture faces the ocean, reflecting the town's deep connection to the sea and its traditions. In July 2024, after restoration, the monument was returned to its place, continuing to serve as a reminder of the importance of maritime culture to Peniche.
