Amber Fort

This fortified palace was built in 1592 by Maharaja Singh I. Amber, pronounced Amer, was the ancient capital of Jaipur.
Amber Fort is one of the best fortified structures in India. The fort stands on a hillside, and its walls are reflected in Lake Moata. Tourists can reach the fort by walking uphill from the road, or climb up jeeps that run between the road and the fort, if you want something special, you can go to the fort on an elephant.
The first courtyard inside the fort is called Jaleb Chowk, there are numerous souvenir shops here. Next is Shila Davy Temple, dedicated to the goddess of war Kali. To the right of the Kali Temple is a hall for public audiences, huge open terraces that are often full of wild monkeys.
