Sanssouci Palace
Haiti, Port-au-Prince

Sanssouci was the royal palace of the Haitian king Henri Christophe. Once Sanssouci was the administrative capital, it is located in the city of Milot just below the mountain, where the citadel stands, and covers an area of eight hectares. The construction of the Sanssouci Palace began in 1810 and ended in 1813. The palace was destroyed by an earthquake that destroyed the city of Cap Haitin in 1842. The palace also had a shop, a clothing factory, a hospital, a school, a chapel, a distillery and military barracks.
To explore this attraction, we advise you to put on comfortable shoes and start exploring early to avoid midday heat. To reach the citadel, you will first have to go through the entire Sanssouci. When hiring a local guide, get ready for an exciting story and a typical typical exaggeration.
