The first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam remained in the memory and hearts of his people not only as the ideological leader of the revolution and leader of the national liberation movement, but also as an outstanding humanist, philosopher, diplomat, public and political figure. He died in 1969 at the age of 79. The great son of his people, a political leader whom the people affectionately call Uncle Ho, rests in the mausoleum, which is a national shrine. After two years of construction, the mausoleum, facing the historical square of the city of Badin, was officially opened on September 29, 1975. The building of the mausoleum, 21 meters high, looks like a lotus flower and is divided into three levels. The lowest level, made in the form of a terrace, is used as a platform for the leadership of the country during celebrations organized on Badin Square. In the central part of the mausoleum, where you can get by climbing the marble stairs, the embalmed body of the leader rests. On the facade of the upper terrace of precious dark purple stone, the inscription "President Ho Chi Minh."
