Banff National Park
Canada, Banff

Banff is the oldest Canadian national park. But, despite the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Banff is a major tourist center with developed infrastructure. In the southern part of the park are two trans-Canadian highways - the railway and the highway. It was during the laying of the railway in 1883 that hot springs were accidentally discovered in caves on the eastern slopes of the mountains. Two years later, these places were recognized as unique and taken under protection. The heart of the park is the namesake city of Banff. This is the highest settlement in Canada, it is located at an altitude of 1463 meters above sea level. The resident population there is a little more than 8,000, but they cope with the flow of tourists who come here in the thousands. For lovers of a comfortable stay, all conditions are created here: recreation centers, hotels, ski slopes, an extensive network of shops and entertainment venues, local residents are always welcome new visitors. In Banff, you can improve your health - the hot springs found here turned out to be mineral and quite suitable for the treatment of ailments. If you prefer a relaxing vacation and long walks, then in Banff and for you there will be classes to your taste. The park crosses several hiking trails, routes of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty lead to places of exceptional beauty. After walking through them, you can admire the beautiful landscapes, views of glaciers and mountain lakes. One of the routes passes through the territory where hoodoos rise - huge spiers of sandstone, turned by time, water and winds. These peculiar “sculptures” were revered by the local Indians and were an important part of their life. In Banff, you will get the opportunity to get acquainted with the local flora and fauna. Moreover, to meet with a deer or raccoon, you do not even have to leave the city. The former easily wander into it, and the latter seem to live next door to people.
