Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum
India, New Delhi

The museum is located in the former residence of Indira Gandhi. The exhibition includes photographs of Indira from the time of her childhood until her assumption of the post of prime minister, her personal belongings, the sari she was wearing on the day of the murder, and personal correspondence. The museum building is surrounded by a flowering garden. Indira Gandhi ruled India for almost 20 years, until her personal bodyguard Sikh killed her in 1984 while walking in the garden. The path she followed that day is now considered part of the memorial. And the place where Indira Gandhi fell is marked in the garden with clear glass. Several rooms of the museum are dedicated to the life of her son Rajiv Gandhi, who was killed in 1991. The library and the living room are preserved in the form in which they left them, the public is not allowed here, but you can look at the interior through the windows in the garden.
