Thanjavur Sculpture Museum
India, Thanjavur

The museum is located in the palace of the former local ruler. At the entrance there is a large pentagram on the floor, and in the center - a large statue. The floor is tiled with stone tiles, everything surrounding is the color of gray stone, which is why after a dusty yellow and hot street there is a strange feeling of an old cool grotto. The ceiling is high and crowned with a dome, which gives an acoustic effect and even more wraps with a veil of antiquity. Behind the columns you can see green trees in the bright sun. Going forward, you can find yourself in the courtyard. Here beautiful paths are laid and bright well-groomed greens are striking. In the center is the temple. The sculptures of the temple were found near the destroyed temple of the god Shiva. They were hidden in a muddy ditch, as archaeologists suggest - the former bed of a small rivulet, and were preserved just fine. In general, all the figures here are the god Shiva or his wife, just the god appears in different guises and therefore the figures are not similar to each other.
