Niagara Falls
Montenegro, Podgorica Municipality

The Tsievna River originates in the Prokletiye Mountains, and then, after a calm flow on the expanses of the Zeta Plain, it flows into the Moracha River a little south of Podgorica. Tsievna is a small river; its depth rarely exceeds 10 meters. However, it was on it that a dam was built, which formed the current essentially man-made waterfall. Local residents, without thinking twice, called him Niagara. Maybe in jest, or maybe in the hope of increased interest in an inquisitive tourist tribe.
It is not difficult to find the waterfall, although it is not visible from the road, but it is perfectly audible. From Podgorica, you need to go southeast along the E762 highway, in the direction of the Adriatic coast to the Tsievna river, then continue along the road along the right bank of the river, it gives a better view and a more convenient approach directly to the waterfall itself.
Overflowing through the dam, the river rushes down, falling from a height of about 10 meters. Gradually breaking through bizarre cavities and underground passages in the rock, the river formed one main waterfall and several small along both its banks. The waterfall makes a pretty strong impression - in the spring and at the beginning of summer, Tsievna powerfully and noisily flows down from several ledges.
The restaurant "Niagara", built right on the bank of the dam, just above the waterfall, gives this place additional attractiveness. It is designed in a rustic style, it serves, among other things, freshly caught fish cooked according to traditional Montenegrin recipes. The tables themselves are located on the outdoor terrace directly on the banks of the river.
