The monastery is located in the municipality of Mojkovac near the village of Nizhnyaya Dobrilovina in the valley of the Tara River, about 20 km from the Dzhurdzhevich bridge.
The first mention of it can be found in the documents of the Turkish authorities, dated 1593, when they allowed to repair the destroyed church of St. George. From this we can conclude about the earlier foundation of the monastery. According to popular tradition, the church was built on donations from the Nemanichi dynasty.
After 1799, difficult times came for the monastery, for almost a hundred years the Turks destroyed and burned the church and all the monastery buildings to the ground more than once, but each time it was reborn again.
After the Second World War, many valuable monastery manuscripts and relics were lost, and the monastery itself was empty for a long time.
It was possible to finally restore the Dobrilovin Monastery only in 1989, when it again became operational, but restoration work continues to this day. Today, there is a female monastic monastery of the Budimlyan-Niksic diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
The local population sometimes calls their monastery in the village of Dobrilovina the name "Little Moraca", since it slightly resembles the famous Moraca monastery with its appearance.
